Gianna Smith

Gianna: Head Instructor & Co-Owner

Gianna’s introduction to Muay Thai began in 2012 at Five Points Academy. Demonstrating a remarkable aptitude for the art, she entered the competitive ring within just nine months of her first session. To refine her craft, Gianna has traveled extensively throughout Thailand, conducting deep technical study at world-renowned institutions including Sitjaopho, Sitsongpeenong, Revolution Phuket, and FA Group.

A Distinguished Competitive Tenure

With over 20 professional and amateur fights, Gianna has earned a reputation as a highly technical practitioner of Muay Thai. Her career is marked by numerous prestigious titles and international honors:

  • IFMA Pan-Am Gold Medalist (Representing USMF Team USA, 2017)

  • USMTO-East A-Class Champion (2017)

  • Victory Combat Sports Champion (2016)

  • Two-Time USKA Champion (2014, 2015)

  • TBA World Expo B-Class Gold Medalist (2013)

Pedagogy & Student Development

Transitioning from an elite competitive career to the role of educator, Gianna draws from a deep well of ring experience to deconstruct complex mechanics for both novice and advanced students. Having begun her journey later than many of her peers, she possesses a unique empathetic insight into the beginner’s learning curve, allowing her to bridge the gap between foundational movement and world-class technical nuance.

Beyond the technical application of "The Art of Eight Limbs," Gianna is dedicated to the cultural and historical preservation of Muay Thai. She views the practice as a vital tool for developing self-defense proficiency, cognitive stress management, and the physical fortitude required to excel in all facets of life.

Interdisciplinary Expertise

Always expanding her martial literacy, Gianna began her study of Jiu-Jitsu in 2018; she currently holds a blue belt with multiple tournament victories to her credit. Furthermore, as a StrongFirst Barbell Certified Instructor, she brings a sophisticated understanding of strength and movement to the Workshop NYC curriculum, ensuring her students develop a resilient physical foundation to support their technical growth.
